Black Snake
Black Snake
Black Snake filmed in Panavision and officially the first feature shot on location in Barbados follows the story of Lady Susan (Anouska Hempel, On Her Majesty's Secret Service) who runs her plantation and her slaves as she sees fit, with the aid of her brutal overseers and big bull whip. With the disappearance of Lady Susan's latest husband (David Prowse, Darth Vader in the suit from the first Star Wars films) his brother Walker (David Warbeck, Trog) shows up to investigate and he discovers the slaves are horribly abused and that everybody is really obsessed with sex.

Russ Meyer’s least successful film financially, it’s over the top and inappropriate, but a feast for the eyes with stunning cinematography and campy performances by Hempel and her sidekick the flamboyant Capt. Raymond Daladier (Bernard Boston). Director Russ Meyer stated in an interview that this film was his "statement" film against racial bigotry. Definitely a statement, it has to be seen to be believed.
