Come out and celebrate Women in Horror Month with us! Join us at 7pm for a Fancy Hat Tea Party in the lounge prior to the screening!
Women in Horror Month was created to support female genre artists and "seeks to expose and break down social constructs and miscommunication between female professionals."
The female filmmakers creating horror today have a unique vision that is breaking new ground and continues a tradition of women and genre films that started with pioneers like Alice Guy-Blache, Lis Weber, Maya Deren and Ida Lupino.
In addition to coming together to commend the female voice in horror, we will be supporting some Valley non-profit organizations that make a difference in the lives of women in Arizona.
Unite with us and make a stand for female empowerment through film! Hosted by Theresa Dillon with Film Programmer Andrea Canales.
Elaine, a beautiful young witch, is determined to find a man to love her. In her gothic Victorian apartment she makes spells and potions, and then picks up men and seduces them. However her spells work too well, and she ends up with a string of hapless victims. When she finally meets the man of her dreams, her desperation to be loved will drive her to the brink of insanity and murder. With a visual style that pays tribute to Technicolor thrillers of the 1960s, THE LOVE WITCH explores female fantasy and the repercussions of pathological narcissism.
